Passengers of a city bus narrowly escaped a major accident after a Route 3C/1 bus lost control at Bangur Crossing on Jessore Road while travelling towards Nagar Bazar. The bus, which was coming from Anandpur, suddenly swerved off course and crashed into a traffic guard post before veering into the opposite lane.
According to police sources, the incident caused significant damage to the traffic infrastructure at the crossing. The traffic signal post was completely destroyed due to the impact of the collision, creating temporary disruption in the busy intersection. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred after the driver suddenly dozed off while driving. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to ram into the guard post and move into the opposite lane.
The driver sustained minor injuries in the incident. Police from Lake Town Police Station reached the spot soon after the accident and brought the situation under control. The driver and the bus have been taken into custody as part of the investigation into the incident.
